THE SAFETY UPDATE

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES ON SITE

Faded blue grid

This is just a quick reminder about what’s expected of us when we’re working on our client’s site. As labour and traffic hire, we’re there to support the principal contractor, so it’s important we follow their systems and keep ourselves and others safe.

1. FOLLOW SITE RULES

Every site we go to will have its own rules, procedures, and way of doing things.

Make Sure You:

+ Follow instructions from the site supervisor or foreman.

+ Stick to the site rules and induction.

+ Work within any SWMS, traffic plans, or instructions given.

If you’re not sure about something, stop and ask before getting into it.

2. LOOK AFTER YOURSELF & EACH OTHER

Everyone on site has a responsibility for safety.

That Means:

+ Don’t take shortcuts.

+ Stay aware of what’s happening around you.

+ Keep clear of moving plant and machinery.

+ Speak up if you see something unsafe.

If something doesn’t look right, say something early so we can fix it.

3. WEAR YOUR PPE

Make sure you’re always wearing the correct PPE.

That Usually Means:

+ Hard Hat.

+ Hi-Viz.

+ Safety Boots.

+ Gloves.

+ Eye & Hearing protection where required.

If anything is damaged or missing contact OHS or your divisional manager.

4. TAKE YOUR BREAKS

It’s important to take your scheduled breaks during the day.

Breaks Help With:

+ Fatigue.

+ Concentration.

+ Preventing Injuries.

Skipping breaks or pushing through when you’re tired can lead to mistakes or injuries. Use the time to rest, hydrate & reset.

5. REPORT HAZARDS OR INJURIES

If you see something unsafe, or if someone gets hurt, even minor, report it immediately.

That Includes:

+ Hazards.

+ Near Misses.

+ Injuries.

+ Damaged Equipment.

Reporting things early helps stop bigger problems later.

6. KEEP THE SITE TIDY

Good housekeeping makes a big difference.

Always Remember:

+ Keep Walkways Clear.

+ Stack Materials Safely.

+ Clean Up Waste & Rubbish.

Remember, a tidy site is a safer site.

FINAL REMINDER

At the end of the day, we’re here to do the job safely and go home the same way we arrived. Follow the site rules, take your breaks, look out for each other, and speak up if something isn’t right.
